How tedprohowichjr.com handles your information

Effective July 18, 2026. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit tedprohowichjr.com, leave a comment, or subscribe to updates. I’ve tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate legal text.

Comments

When you leave a comment, I collect the name, email address, and comment content you submit, along with your IP address and browser user agent — standard WordPress behavior used to fight spam and keep comment threads readable. Comments are checked by Akismet (a spam-filtering service operated by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com) before they’re approved; that means comment content, your name/email, and IP address are shared with Akismet for that check. If you have a Gravatar account tied to the email you comment with, your avatar image is pulled from Gravatar.com (also Automattic) and shown next to your comment.

Subscriptions

If you follow this blog or a specific post’s comments, your email address is stored by Jetpack (Automattic) so it can send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in those emails.

Cookies

Commenting sets a cookie so your name, email, and website can be remembered next time you comment — nothing more. WordPress.com and Jetpack may also set their own cookies for basic site functionality and security, such as keeping an administrator logged in or reducing spam.

Site Hosting & Analytics

This site is hosted on WordPress.com, operated by Automattic. Automattic collects standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of running the hosting infrastructure — that’s covered by WordPress.com’s own privacy policy, not something I control directly. I don’t run any separate analytics or advertising trackers of my own.

Embedded Content

Some pages include an embedded X (Twitter) widget. If active, it may collect data about your visit the same way it would if you visited x.com directly, subject to X’s own privacy policy.

What I Don’t Do

I don’t sell or share your information for advertising. I don’t run e-commerce or collect payment information anywhere on this site. There are no visitor accounts — only comments and email subscriptions involve giving me any information at all.

Your Rights

If you’d like to know what data I have tied to your email, or want a comment or subscription removed, email me and I’ll take care of it directly.

Children’s Privacy

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

I’ll update this page if what the site actually does changes. Check the date at the top.
